Christian Humanism – Friends Meeting House

On 9th September, Sandra Palmer will speak on Christian Humanism at the Friends Meeting House

Christianity and Humanism are often presented as at loggerheads – two very different belief systems. Sandra will be exploring whether there are borderlands between these two ‘faiths’ and the approaches of those who live in those lands.

Please see our ‘Where we meet‘ page if you’d like to come along

Local Buxton group kicks off in style

A preliminary get-together to gauge interest in a local humanist meeting to be based in Buxton was held on 22 June.  12 people attended and interest was such that further meetings are now being planned.

The next meeting will be in the piano lounge at the Old Hall Hotel on 20 July at 7 for a 7.30 start.

Local Group – Buxton meeting – Monday 22 June

We are hoping to set up regular meetings in the Buxton/High Peak area. An initial meeting to gauge support will be held in the Piano Lounge, Old Hall Hotel, The Square, Buxton, SK17 6BD (phone 01298 22841) from 6pm to 8pm on Monday 22 June.

The programme will be quite flexible but will include a talk or two by GMH members who live in the area on what Humanism means to them personally. There will be an opportunity to discuss what form local meetings would take if they go ahead.

For further information or to express interest, contact the local organiser, Marge Rose on 01298 72310 or email marge rose
